Manukau Institute of Technology welcomes you to the ninth annual ARA Conference.

We are delighted to be hosting this event which, in addition to the focus on research presentations, will feature prominent accounting practitioners and academics, who will address the conference theme:

 “Accounting after the Global Financial Crisis – credibility and accountability”

This theme continues to resonate. It has been recently reported that New York-based Lehman tried to hide its true financial picture by moving US$50 billion of assets off its books and accounting for the transactions as sales. The collapse of the NZ financial services sector is also revealing shortcomings in accounting practices.

The larger goal of the conference is, of course, to foster and promote accounting research, and provide a forum for academics in the Auckland region and beyond, to network.
